I first heard about iFloat Baby Spa when a past client of mine posted a picture of her son floating in a small tub with his head resting on the inner tube that was around his neck.
My first impression was “What the….?? Where is this iFloat Baby Spa and what is she doing with her baby?!”
About a week later my friend Jaime Moar, who teaches yoga for kids and is absolutely fabulous, sent me a note letting me know that she’d started teaching mom and baby yoga at a new spa for babies. Yep, it was the same place!
I’m cynical about just about everything when I hear about it for the first time, so I knew I had to go see this place in person. The concept seemed so bizarre that I couldn’t believe it even existed.
When I walked into the “baby spa” (this part still makes me laugh) I was greeted by Ling, the friendly owner, and Gina who also works there.
First impressions: Bright and clean with lots of light and from the entrance I could see through little windows into the colourful kids play area.
Ling and Gina took me on a tour through the space. Of course the first thing I wanted to see was the baths! Set up in the room were 5 or 6 small baths for the youngest guests and one large tub for the older babies to float together. All I could picture was a bunch of babies floating around sipping cocktails, discussing the massages they were going to get.
Then I asked a million questions:
- Can the moms get in tubs? NO.
- Can we sip margaritas? NO.
- Can we come here every day? YES.
- What if I want to just come and hang out in the play area if I’m not sure about the baths? YES!
- Do you have food and coffee? YES! (and affordable and healthy choices as well!)
- What else should we know? There’s a room for nursing and putting baby down for a nap, they provide swim diapers and towels, they have a huge play area with toys for kids aged 0-3. Prices vary based on what options you choose, from approx 10$ for the play area to $60 for play, baths, and massage. If your baby has private insurance (lucky them!) the costs can be covered under insurance! Reserving in advance is always best to guarantee space in the baths as well as for lunch.
Thankfully, Ling is used to dealing with infants all day, so she put up with me and my endless questions and I left feeling very excited!
So excited that I am hosting a MOMS MEET-UP at iFloat Baby Spa! And guess what? YOU’RE INVITED!
Join us on February 18th from 11 am to 1pm.
I’ll be there to welcome you and your baby and we can sit in the play area and chat. Meet other moms, have a coffee on us, and if you want make an appointment for a bath and massage experience for your baby.
Directions:The spa is located in the same building as PinkiBlue, where the 15 and the 40 meet. Google map is a bit confused on how to direct you there, but it’s right next to the Starbucks.
If you have any questions give me a call 514-966-1657 or call the spa directly 514-738-0888
