Hello 2015!
The best thing about January is that fresh New Year feeling. There isn’t much else to be excited about, living in Montreal in the middle of winter. But I do love the feeling of a fresh start when January 1st rolls around.
So many things can happen in a year. Babies can be contemplated, conceived, gestated and birthed ALL within one year! How amazing is that?! Sometimes New Year’s Eve can just get completely out of hand and at the end of September all those midnight celebration babies are being born. (I’ve had a few clients having those babies over the last couple of years. It’ll make for a funny “when you were conceived” story to tell their child when they grow up!)
I’m excited because of all the changes coming for me this year as well. I’ll soon be announcing the launch of my new website- it’s going to be out of this world amazing!
I’ll have a comprehensive page dedicated to my new prenatal classes- private classes held in your home, on your schedule. They’ll be completely different than any other prenatal class in Montreal. Forget the boring classes in an old room tucked away at some hospital or office. You’ll get to hang out in your own living room, learning about pregnancy, labour and birth in a fun and exciting way. You’ll have personalized classes- with tons of time to ask those personal questions (you know the ones…) without feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed in front of 10 other strangers. Aiming for a specific type of birth? Perfect- just let me know and I can concentrate more of our time on what you are really interested in finding out. Bundled with my birth doula services you’ll be more than ready to face the challenges of birth and life as a new parent!
This year I’ll also be continuing to host my Women’s Prenatal Discussion Group held at Melons et Clementines. Since I started hosting these in November there has been so much interest and a great turnout from pregnant women who are looking for a place to meet other expectant moms, find out about local resources in Montreal and talk about all things relating to doulas, pregnancy, newborns and birth. So far it’s been a success and I only see it growing with each meeting, creating a bigger and better community for women in Montreal. The next meeting is going to be held on Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30pm at M&C at 5659 Sherbrooke St W, H4A 1W6. Hope to see you there!
But wait! There’s more exciting news! Starting in February I will be hosting Introduction to Babywearing workshops at Melons et Clementines as well. I am so looking forward to this. I see so many new parents who want to carry or wear their baby, but they can’t figure out how or they just aren’t sure where to start. Problem solved! Once a month I will be holding a workshop specifically geared towards learning how to use a baby carrier. I’ll be going over all different types of carriers and how to use them safely so you can be hands free while parenting! (…It’s the secret to parenting success if you ask me.) More details to follow. As for my doula work, I already have so many wonderful and beautiful clients lined up for this year, I can’t wait to work with them and be there as their families grow.
