GIVEAWAY CLOSED – CONGRATULATIONS TO KIRSTEN!!

If I could give one piece of parenting advice to all new parents it would be: get a babycarrier. (My second piece of advice would be to invest in a wine delivery service…do those exist? They should!)

Having the ability to soothe your baby, have them sleep while you’re on the go, eat your food while it’s still hot and get stuff done without them crying or getting into something is pretty much priceless.

I knew enough about baby carrying before having my first child that I made sure to include a stretchy wrap on my registry. A stretchy wrap is a long piece of material, usually made from cotton, that you use to create a place for baby to rest comfortably and safely while being close to your body. They are perfect for the newborn period for a baby starting at 7lbs.

What I loved most about using them was that I could put it on in the morning and put my baby in and out of it multiple times without having to take it off or adjust. When I had my second child I would tie the wrap on and use it to carry him while I dropped off my older son at preschool, head out to do groceries, and run errands and I didn’t have to carry the infant car seat around. Instead, he slept comfortably against me while I got everything done.

I was ready to move on to a different kind of carrier around 4 months, when my son started getting a bit too heavy for the stretchy material. So, about 5 years ago at this exact time of year I googled, found a place that had a great selection of carriers and made my way to NDG- the shop was called Melons et Clementines. I met one of the lovely owners, Renee, and she helped me choose a new carrier. The rest is history, as they say, as I’ve now spent about 5 billion hours inside that boutique and cafe as a customer, an employee, and now hosting my workshops and prenatal classes.
